A Land of Art and Handicrafts

In Cusco, the city’s wonderful cultural offering is complemented by an art tour of the Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Cusco, which takes us through centuries of handicrafts and creation, up to contemporary work.

The Hotel’s Collection

Without leaving Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel, it is possible to see its magnificent collection of paintings from the famous Cusco School, which developed in the 17th and 18th centuries. The display of paintings, furniture and folk art at Palacio del Inka is made up of around a hundred pieces, including originals and valuable reproductions, which are cared for and maintained by the Ministry of Culture. The paintings, as well as the ceramic pieces, are distributed throughout the hotel. In the main rooms, in the corridors leading to the rooms, even in the restaurant: art is always present.

The New Mantay Gallery

The Mantay Modern Art Gallery is the latest cultural addition to the Palacio del Inka. Located inside the hotel, it opened its doors in 2024 to showcase the work of great Peruvian creators of the 20th and 21st centuries. It thus becomes a contemporary art space for the city. The selection criteria for its exhibitions are based on the relevance of the great masters of Peruvian art: painting, engraving, sculpture and photography are the main formats of its exhibitions, which seek to give priority to the nationally and internationally recognized trajectory.

At the end of 2024, Mantay’s proposal also moved to the Sacred Valley. Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, in collaboration with art curator Sergio Velásquez, presented its own Mantay Gallery, located on the hotel’s boulevard. This space opened its doors with an exhibition made in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Carlos Bernasconi and has already presented other national artists of the caliber of Ricardo Wiesse and Alberto Lama. The main objective of the exhibition is to become a cultural reference point in the Sacred Valley. This new art center not only seeks to promote the cultural development of the community, but also aims to be a source of inspiration for children, young people and art students, as well as for all its visitors.

With the Mantay Gallery, both in Cusco and in the Sacred Valley, the route designed by our hotels is completed, with the aim of taking visitors through the pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican eras, to contemporary Peruvian creative work.
