Peru: Travel Calendar

Below is a definitive guide to help you organize getaways to Lima, Cusco, and Paracas, three very different Peruvian destinations that stand out depending on the season, the type of traveler, and the experiences offered by Intursa hotels.

Paracas: Sunny Days

In Paracas, you can enjoy the sun and warmth all year round, but its privileged climate and coastal activities make the bay an ideal destination from January to April, which coincides with the Peruvian summer. Then, you can fully enjoy the scenic beauty of beaches such as La Mina, El Raspón, or Yumaque. In addition, at the Hotel Paracas, a Luxury Collection Resort, its famous pool overlooking the bay and a cocktail and snack bar ensure refreshment and relaxation.

Paracas Bay is the ideal place to practice water sports. Wakeboarding, tubing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding are just some of the activities organized by the hotel, allowing guests to connect with nature and experience different levels of adrenaline. Many can be done for the first time or with the family.

The sea is the main attraction: you can reserve the premium boat of the hotel to explore routes that reveal the rich landscape and marine fauna of Paracas. A catamaran ride is a more intimate option that can become a romantic getaway, ideal for Valentine’s Day in February. And for the curious and adventurous, the Paracas hotel has designed a shell collecting experience and a fishing trip, both with a guided service.

Party in Cusco

Between June and August, during the dry season, Cusco can be discovered with clear skies, cooler temperatures, and minimal chances of rain. This makes it the perfect time to walk around the city and explore wonders such as Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and the Sacred Valley.

Some of the most important festivals of the country take place in Cusco during these months. The Inti Raymi is an ancient Inca religious celebration that worshipped Inti, or the Sun God. Today, it is celebrated with great color and tradition during the winter solstice on June 24. The symbolic representation, with songs and music, takes place in three iconic locations: the Qoricancha temple—right in front of the Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel—the Plaza de Armas, and Sacsayhuaman.

There is also the festival of the Virgen del Carmen in Paucartambo, two and a half hours from Cusco: an annual celebration from July 15 to 18 that stands out for its religious fervor and its dancers with masks and traditional costumes, who pay homage to “Mamacha Carmen,” the patron saint of the town, with dances and processions. In addition, the Fiestas Patrias (National Holidays) on July 28 and 29 are celebrated with special excitement, both in the city and in the Sacred Valley, where Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa designs experiences and menus specifically for the occasion.

Lima All Year Round

Thanks to its warm climate and its diverse and stable range of services, Lima is a destination that can be visited all year round. In addition, the capital is a must-see for its cuisine and culture, and for being the gateway to other destinations, such as Paracas to the south and Cusco to the Andes. Stays at the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center (with its Heavenly Spa, heated pool, water circuit, and health and beauty treatments that are restorative at any time of year), at the AC Hotel Lima Miraflores (with its ocean view) or Aloft Lima Miraflores, promise the best locations in the city, as well as restaurants, bars, and work and meeting spaces, so you can fully enjoy the city and have everything at your fingertips, whenever you want.
