Flavors that are Constantly Evolving

Peruvian culinary creativity knows no bounds, which is why restaurants and bars in Lima are constantly evolving. Below are the new menus from some of the most innovative establishments, as well as a new gastronomic corridor in the city.

Gastronomic San Isidro

In addition to being one of the most dynamic and modern districts of the Peruvian capital, San Isidro is the financial, cultural, and gastronomic center of Lima. At the Westin hotel alone, its restaurants and bars have some of the most interesting signature menus in the city, which are constantly being renewed to feature seasonal ingredients and the ideas of their chefs and mixologists.

Market 770 is a market-driven kitchen that focuses on looking for local and seasonal produce, creating sustainable experiences that stand out in the gastronomic offering. Its refined and modern menu does not lose the essence of authentic Peruvian food. In its new season, you can find classic starters — such as octopus with olive sauce, grilled shellfish, and its special 770 ceviche— as well as Peruvian main courses, such as anticuchero chicken, Amazonian chaufa, lomo saltado, and other fusion dishes, such as gnocchi a la huancaína. In addition, Market 770 has an Eat Well Menu, which the chef has created with the well-being of diners in mind, giving them the freedom to choose the size of the portion, the nutritional balance, and the quality of the ingredients.

Maras, on the other hand, is the perfect place to discover and taste the best of Peruvian haute cuisine in an elegant setting. Its culinary offering focuses on product quality and technique, combining tradition and avant-garde. Some recommendations from the new menu are to start with clams, moro crab, shellfish tiradito, or Josper shrimp; then savor a paiche curry, confit suckling pig, squid fideuá, or zapallo loche risotto; and finish with a signature dessert, such as Mi Piura cheesecake with lucuma, algarrobina, and peanuts.

To complement the culinary experience of the Westin hotel, El Salar combines extraordinary cocktails, first-class food, and musical entertainment in a cool, casual atmosphere that lasts from day to night. Here, you can order signature drinks such as Pacific Spirit and Cushqui 45, made with Amazonian gin and other ingredients such as leche de tigre and eucalyptus foam; Mexican Blood, with mezcal and rocoto pepper; or Amen 49, with vodka and buttermilk with chamomile flowers and lemon grass. You will also find classics such as pisco sour, chilcano, pisco punch, and more. To accompany your drinks, you can share some roasted shellfish, octopus tacos, or chorizo spring rolls.

Trying out Paseo Begonias

Paseo Begonias is a new urban destination in San Isidro that offers the opportunity to connect with a variety of unique experiences, combining gastronomy, retail, workspaces, and more. This is where Casa Sarao has opened, with the motto “eating is a party.” The restaurant brings the rhythm and essence of Spain with Peruvian techniques and details, and with the stamp of renowned chef Jorge Muñoz, who lived in said European country for 20 years. Here, the kitchen is open, the atmosphere is lively, and the space invites you to linger.

Another restaurant on Paseo Begonias is Melt, a vibrant and versatile place inspired by the essence of brunch and the American diner. The menu, curated by chef Monserrat Garza, features comfort food and is available all day. It offers everything from a relaxed brunch —with bagels, cured salmon, pastrami, latkes, and croissant cubes— to a selection of grilled dishes with premium cuts. It is an ideal place to share, socialize, and meet up at any time of day.

In these restaurants, the new menus and gastronomic offerings, as well as the spaces designed with personality and their own unique style, reflect a gastronomic capital that has already conquered the palate and heart of the world, and a neighborhood, San Isidro, that is worth exploring.
