Art and Design in Lima

The sea is a source of inspiration and all kinds of materials for Lima.

Historically, it has nurtured the literature, art, and music that emerge from the Peruvian capital; it is one of the city’s most distinctive landscapes and one of the elements that gives it its dynamic character. That is why a route for discovering art and design does not stray far from the Pacific coast.

Miraflores: Eclectic and Contemporary

It is a neighborhood that combines modernity with tradition; its streets offer art, gastronomy, shopping, and green spaces. A route to discover Lima’s art and design can begin at Aloft Lima Miraflores, just steps from the heart of the

district, or directly from the waterfront, from AC Hotel Lima Miraflores.

Ricardo Palma Cultural Center

Located on Larco Avenue, one of the area’s main thoroughfares, it houses two contemporary art galleries and offers a continuous and dynamic program of activities.

Forum Gallery

One of the essential stops on Lima’s contemporary art scene. Its roster includes a selection of visual and audiovisual artists, with exhibitions held throughout the year.

Yunuik

A shop and gallery dedicated to folk art and handicrafts from the Indigenous

peoples of the Peruvian Amazon. Located inside a historic early-20th century

house, it brings together creations from more than 50 Indigenous Amazonian peoples.

Parks along the waterfront

Walking from central Miraflores toward the sea guarantees architecture, design, views, and public art. Visitors can stroll through parks such as Salazar (home to Larcomar shopping center, with stores featuring Peruvian brands), Domodossola, and Intihuatana, as well as the famous Parque del Amor. Here begins a stretch that combines urban landscapes with public art, featuring sculptures by renowned Peruvian artists standing along the waterfront. Crossing on foot into Barranco via the Puente de la Paz extends the walk.

Barranco: Bohemian and Historic

Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima

One of the city’s leading museums, dedicated to 20th-century and contemporary Peruvian and Latin American art. A park extends from the museum, making it an ideal place to relax or enjoy something to eat.

Jade Rivera Gallery

In an old mansion on the historic Bajada de Baños, the museum of this contemporary muralist brings together part of his artistic output. It is a vibrant stop filled with energy and color.

Dédalo and Puna

On the Alameda de Sáenz Peña, Dédalo is a classic destination that combines art, design, and a beautiful courtyard where visitors can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner surrounded by trees. Nearby, on a small street parallel to the waterfront, Puna concept store brings together signature design pieces by the award-winning Puna studio, in a mansion shared with other fashion, interior design, and lifestyle projects.

Pedro de Osma Museum

On a tree-lined avenue connected to the sea, this museum preserves and exhibits one of Peru’s most important collections of viceregal art. It is also an opportunity to visit Casa de Osma, a French-style mansion built in 1906 as the family’s summer residence. Strolling through its gardens is the perfect finale to an artistic route showcasing some of Lima’s most inspiring sights.
